"This program definitely pushes your physical and mental limits at all times. I relate many of my experiences and challenges in everyday life to obstacles I overcame while in Ecuador."

Program Design
Every aspect of our course design is intended to enhance the program objectives: education, cultural awareness, personal growth, fun and world exploration. Sequential skill development that incorporates teambuilding, academics, service learning, and reflection provides the framework for our comprehensive programs. Careful planning and a small group size give us the flexibility to take advantage of educational and cultural opportunities along the way.
College Credit The design and academic focus of Insights programs has earned us accreditation, allowing our participants to earn academic college credit with the successful completion of any trip. Insights partners with Lesley University to provide a course transcript.
Our Approach to Learning
Our hands-on, immersion approach to education promotes the philosophy that learning should be fun, interesting and challenging. We believe learning can and should be experiential, intertwining academic topics with practical applications within the environment and community, rather than just an activity that takes place in schools, colleges or structured environments. One of our main goals is to inspire our students to have a passion for knowledge and to achieve a hands-on understanding of a particular field of study.
Small Groups
Each group is limited to 10 - 12 participants. This group size promotes a highly supportive, non-competitive atmosphere that allows each person to be an integral part of the team. The flexibility permitted by traveling in a small group allows us to take advantage of more opportunities and gives us the ability to accommodate the different goals and dynamics of each group.
Knowledgeable Staff
Our instructors are hired for their expertise in their particular field and their genuine enthusiasm for teaching and working with young adults. With two instructors on each trip, plus the in-country educators and guides, the student to staff ratio is very low.
Personal Growth
Living in a small group, traveling in foreign lands, learning and taking on challenges will cause you to look inward. Insights courses provide ample opportunities for physical, social and emotional skill development. Through honest introspection and success in accomplishing difficult tasks, individuals gain knowledge about their own strengths and weaknesses.
Cultural Immersion
Insights programs provide rare opportunities to truly experience different cultures. By working and living alongside locals in foreign countries, our participants receive a level of cultural education that cannot be gained in any other way. Depending on the course, "home stays" may be part of the program design.
Service
The Insights course design includes much more than a token service project. One week out of each program is devoted to a significant service learning venture during which participants work side by side with locals to make a real difference in the communities we visit. Projects can include working with "Habitat for Humanity" building homes or teaching local school groups about rainforest ecology. A minimum of 50 service credit hours will be earned during this phase.
Solo
At Insights, the solo is about reflection. Unlike other programs, our solo experience does not include survival skills, fasting and/or personal hardship. It is a time for you to contemplate the experiences of the program and what they mean to you personally. |
