If you love outdoor adventure and academic pursuits, Insights School of Experiential Education gives you the best of both worlds. Our unique blend of activities creates a summer experience you will find nowhere else. By providing a sequenced combination of adventure, academic, cultural and service learning in a small group setting, Insights creates the ideal environment for young adults to discover and explore. Our solid course design, hands-on approach and active reflection facilitate students to create bridges of meaning and relevance to their lives.
Insights trips are not for everyone. For those who seek a traditional adventure program, a large group social atmosphere, or a non-academic program, there are many excellent alternatives to Insights. Ideal participants are eager for a combination of physical challenges, academic pursuits, cultural exploration, service work and teamwork. Insights seeks young adults, ages 16-21, who desire to broaden their perspective through a rare and meaningful summer experience.

A positive and respectful attitude is critical to the success of the program and the group. This requires tolerance and patience with others, even if you're exhausted or simply frustrated by the daily challenges of travel abroad. You sometimes have to put the needs of others ahead of your own and you discover quickly that teamwork is the best way to achieve both individual goals and the goals of the group. Living in a foreign country requires an open mind. Discovering new foods and ways of doing things are a few of the wonders of learning about a different culture. Some of the places we stay will not have indoor plumbing, electricity or modern communication systems. You may go a few days without a shower. There will be days when your muscles will ache, and nights when you may not sleep well. But there will also be times you will remember the rest of your life. Nights filled with laughter and unique experiences will intertwine with the fabric of who you are.
Insights programs provide rich opportunities for learning. You are asked to push yourself and be ready to try new things. We provide the experiences, but you must provide the commitment and the dedication. With an open mind and a willingness to challenge yourself, your Insights experience will be both extraordinary and rewarding. Your effort and determination will lead directly to success, to knowing you've accomplished difficult tasks and achieved your goals. In addition to college credit, Insights participants leave our courses with increased personal and global awareness and life skills that remain long after the course concludes. |
